GUY MASSICOTTE, PhD
based in Trois-Rivières (Québec) Canada
Dr. Massicotte is interested at understanding the biochemical mechanisms of normal and pathological synaptic plasticity. Attention is presently focussed on the role of lipases and their metabolites in controlling hippocampal synaptic plasticity (i.e. long-term potentiation; LTP). His work also includes elucidation of the role for PLA2 in regulating glutamate receptor function. Finally, attention is given at understanding the role of apolipoprotein E in LTP defects during ageing.
Key words: phospholipases, phospholipids, long-term potentiation, hippocampus, apolipoproteins, glutamate, AMPA, NMDA
